Hilary fanatic Laura had the opportunity to interview Hilary Duff for CBBC Newsround last March 6. For a glimpse of the interview, read on:
You’re my idol – who was your idol when you were my age?
Laura, 13, from Petersfield
I didn’t have a lot of TV to watch or magazines when I was younger so I always hung out with my sister and she was my idol. She always included me with her friends even though I was two-and-a-half years younger, so she’s always been great to look up to, and my best friend.
What was it like working with your sister Haylie in the film Material Girls?
Laura, 13, from Petersfield
It was great. We are so close. We live together but travel so much, so recently, it’s been hard to spend time together.
She was doing a play in New York for seven months and I didn’t see her until she was home, so when we filmed, it was great. We got to drive to work every day and we shared a trailer.
I like to sing but I’m scared to sing in front of people. What gives you the confidence?
Tiffany, 12, Cambridgeshire
I wish there was some secret remedy I could tell everybody. I still get nervous sometimes when I’m in a room with a couple of people, and if someone said sing now, it would take me a few minutes. I couldn’t just do that, I would be really shy.
But if I have thousands of people in front of me, I can do it, no problem. I think if you love it and it’s something you really want to do, stick at it, sing in front of a mirror, then brothers and sisters, friends, parents, until it gets comfortable. Be strong and know you can be good and you will be great. And have fun!
