81. Hilary Duff
What Hilary Duff has accomplished at such a young age is impressive, not to mention how hot she’s looked while doing it. Aside from a superhuman amount of determination, Hilary has talent in spades. And she’s just released her third pop album, Dignity, which debuted at No. 3 on the U.S. charts. Not just a singer, Hilary Duff even stars on the big screen, taking the lead role in Greta and appearing in War, Inc., Safety Glass and Foodfight!. No wonder she’s on our list.

Madonna is the richest woman in music.
The 49-year-old entertainer leads Forbes.com’s list of the top 20 “Cash Queens of Music,” earning $72 million between June 2006 and June 2007.
The pop star’s “Confessions” world tour pulled in $260 million, Forbes said. She also made money from album sales, her fashion line with H&M and a deal with NBC to broadcast her concert performance at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Forbes.com said it compiled the list by examining concert grosses, merchandising revenue, album sales and other revenue from clothing lines, fragrance deals and endorsements.
Barbra Streisand is No. 2 with $60 million, thanks to her comeback tour of North America and Europe.
Celine Dion ranks third with $45 million, largely from her successful “A New Day” show in Las Vegas, which she wrapped up in December after a five-year engagement at Caesars Palace.
Shakira is fourth with $38 million, followed by Beyonce ($27 million), Gwen Stefani ($26 million), Christina Aguilera ($20 million), Faith Hill ($19 million), the Dixie Chicks ($18 million) and Mariah Carey ($13 million).
Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne and Martina McBride each banked $12 million.
Britney Spears ranked 14th on the list, earning $8 million from music royalties and sales of her fragrances with Elizabeth Arden.
Spears is followed by Carrie Underwood and Nelly Furtado ($7 million each); Fergie, Jennifer Lopez and Sheryl Crow ($6 million each); and Norah Jones ($5.5 million).

Singer, songwriter, actress, fashion designer, fragrance owner, TV star and teen idol Hilary Duff has met adoring, screaming fans in Sydney ahead of her concert on Saturday night.
A crowd of hundreds gathered at Myer’s Sydney city store where the 20-year-old made her only official public appearance outside of her three-concert Australian schedule.
“It’s really good to be here again,” Duff said, barely audible above the screaming crowd, dominated by teenage girls waving homemade banners.
Friends Jordan Henry, 11, and Mia Petrou, 10, travelled with their mothers from the NSW Central Coast to be in Sydney to see the star at Myer before heading to Acer Arena for Saturday night’s concert.
“We bought tickets to her concert as soon as they went on sale,” an excited Jordan said as she gripped a collage poster of Duff.
“We’ve got all of her albums and we love her.
“We only like her, not any of the others like Britney.”
Duff is earning herself a name as the good girl of stardom with the controversial demise of fellow American singers and actors such as Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, whose naughty and sometimes naked antics keep them in the headlines.
Wearing a dark pencil skirt and grey singlet top, a beaming Duff graced the stage at Myer on Saturday afternoon to launch her latest fragrance, Wrapped With Love.
More than 150 fans queued for the singer’s autograph and to exchange a few words.
“I told her that I can’t wait for the show tonight and that I’m a big fan and have been for years,” said Jose, 20, proudly showing off his signed photograph of Duff.
Duff, who has sold more than one million copies of her three albums, played in Brisbane on Thursday night and will head from Sydney to Melbourne on Sunday for the last concert of her Australian tour.
“It was really, really great … the fans were crazy. I love that it always makes for a great show,” Duff said of her Brisbane concert.

If you’re one of the many bored e-surfers who like to waste time trolling though the Toronto Musician classifieds on Craigslist, you might have seen a fairly innocuous “bassist wanted” ad posted by a group called Hello Operator. What the listing didn’t say was that Hello Operator are no ordinary garage band. They’ve toured the continent, played to full arenas alongside performers such as Hilary Duff and Simple Plan, made appearances on MTV, and receive regular radio play across the country. How often do open auditions offer that? It’s like a secret Canadian Idol for backing musicians.
Actually, Hello Operator have been through this sort of thing before. There are only two core members: guitarist/vocalist Mike Condo and keyboardist Evan Huson. Over the years, the other three positions have been filled by a steady stream of short-lived stand-ins. It’s the sort of thing that most musicians would consider a pain in the ass, but Huson knows how to look on the bright side.
“It keeps it fresh, actually. A lot of people think they’re going to like touring more than they actually do… then they get on the road and get really cranky. They miss home and their girlfriend and having a steady job.”
In contrast, after years of touring, Huson probably feels more at home on the road. Hello Operator set the type of grueling tour schedule that most penniless bands are forced into: driving all day, performing every night. Of course, it’s not so bad when you’re booking arenas, even if only as Duff’s opening act.
“With Hilary Duff, the kids that came to those shows, it was their first show ever,” explains Huson. “The kids showed up as soon as the doors opened, so we basically played to a full arena every night for a month-and-a-half.”

Haylie Duff is said to be desperately trying to reunite with writer/director ex-boyfriend Charlie McDowell less than two months after she ditched him.
The pair hooked up in the summer of 2007 but Duff, big sister to Hilary, ditched the son of Mary Steenburgen and Malcolm McDowell in November.
But now sources claim Duff, 22, is changing her mind when she heard rumors McDowell, 24 was romancing Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere.
A friend tells the National Enquirer, “She did an about face and began calling Charlie non-stop, telling him she’d made a huge mistake.”
“He told Haylie he’d moved on and wanted nothing more to do with her,” the friend says.

Pop star HILARY DUFF is hitting back at reports she was caught lip-syncing during a concert in Mexico last January 12, insisting “faulty equipment” sparked the misunderstanding.
The So Yesterday singer was caught bending over her microphone and silently singing into it as part of concert footage posted on website YouTube.com. But her representatives insist the microphone was faulty and she could clearly be heard singing by fans at the front of the stage.
One aide says, “There was no sound coming out, but she was singing.” People.com reports Duff was using venue-provided sound equipment rather than her regular gear, and her microphone was inadvertently set to mute for the first few seconds of her performance.

Hilary and Haylie fighting a news crew? That doesn’t like the Duff sisters we all know. According to FOX News, the show business siblings “hurled insults at a FOX 26 News crew.” This occurred as the members of the Duff family were leaving a Houston court. The parents of Haylie and Hilary, Susan and Bob, are divorcing. FOX also reports that Momma Duff joined in on the mental expletive-fest.
As the family members went through Houston’s downtown tunnel system, somebody (it hasn’t been stated for sure, though reporters have their guesses) pushed the FOX reporter, Isiah Carey, against the wall, while pushing the news photographer to the ground. Right afterwards, either Hilary or Haylie yelled curse words at photographer Walker as he picked himself up.

Hilary and Haylie Duff’s cheating father was ordered yesterday to pay $100,000 in support to mother Duff.
Susan Duff won her request for Bob Duff to pay her $20,000 per month for living expenses during their pending divorce proceedings. According to the Houston Chronicle, that’s in addition to the $100,000 in living expenses and legal fees he was previously ordered to pay, which he has not done.
Mrs. Duff testified that she was largely been supported by her famous daughters for the past five years. When asked if the Duff sisters would not continue to support her, Mrs. Duff snapped, “Of course they would, [but] it is not their job to pay for their father’s philandering and divorce.” An accountant told the Chronicle that the divorce is already approaching a cost of $1 million in legal fees.
The young Duffs have not testified in court, but have attended court in support of their mother.
